I have just rung the 0800 number,(but it is Saturday!)

On answering the voice relays;-

"Welcome to CW Digital one of the UK specialists in high quality LCD TVs and personal video recorders.
To place an order or for queries on our product range, please press 1.
For all other enquiries please press 2.

Pressing 2 the phone just rings, I will try again on Monday during office hours, which is when Humax answers the phone anyway.

The only phone number on their emails is the 0844 but there is a fax number: 020 3014 5353.

I think it about time the alternative number information is updated with a note explaining something along the lines of 'Trade enquiries only, retail customers have to pay much more for their calls'

Well... because a forum search here indicated to me that many Humax device owners continue to try calling the 'local' number when it is actually dedicated to the 'Trade' and of no use to them. The 0844 number is readily displayed on the Humax website and on other documentation, most here are seeking an alternative - but yes, the text used in my suggestion was 'tongue-in-cheek' but I felt some some kind of alternative might help.

Was there a real need for you to adopt such a hard-nosed attitude to my (first) post here?

I am mystified about the comments re the Humax no not working for Customer Services, my husband used it about three weeks ago, well after the poster who had probs on 14/9, followed the instructions in the database & it worked perfectly well, no problems at all being put through to Customer Services so I would hate people to think they have to use the 0844 with no choice.

I've removed the 020 alternative and replaced it with "unknown". In the Other Information column I've put a link to this thread.

If you have followed that link, then see previous postings for the information and leads we've found thus far. If you can help with this, then please post here (or you can e-mail me ).

Such contribution can be anything and certainly doesn't have to include an alternative number. For example, the name and/or address of the office where calls to the 0844 number are dealt with might be a useful clue. I made a suggestion before as to where calls are answered (based on what I'd found) and if anyone knows any different or can confirm what I found, then let us know.

This number is for the HUMAX office, but when the option for customer support is selected, it plays a message giving the 0844 number. We've covered this before in previous postings on this thread.

As we don't have an alternative for this 0844 number, I've put a note in the database to the effect that the 020 number does not allow access to support and simply redirects to the 0844 number.
